China to launch a new space station

For the record:

Following on the impressive opening ceremony to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and so far very smooth Olympics, China is planning to conclude its coming of age by launching a space station of a novel design immediately or soon after the closing ceremonies. Such is the news from a very reliable source within the US space program. The space station will be without crew, which will follow in the months or years ahead. The successful launch of a tubular shaped space station would be a follow up to the launch of an taikonaut (astronaut in mandarin) in 2003.
