Undecided voters sway campaigns, but … elites generally run things.

July 16, 2008

The title was part of an excellent article in the New York Times from David Brooks about funding for Barrack Obama. He argues that the old Republican money comes from the top management class of Middle America represented by the agriculture, gas and oil and transportation industries while the democrats pack a punch in the scions of the knowledge economy: electronics, communications, academia, finance and real estate. That is comforting news as the middle-American country club white men who now run the government are destined to be overwhelmed by the growing service sector economy managers almost exclusively drawn from the coastal liberal colleges. So off we stride into the bright future ruled by the coastal elites.
