Presidential campaigns were a parody…a ritual danse macabre of flags, balloons and bullshit.

January 31, 2008

or thats at least what John Pilger thinks in his last most scathing article in the British magazine New Statesman, continuing :

They are a ritual danse macabre of flags, balloons and bullshit, designed to camouflage a venal system based on money, power, human division and a culture of permanent war.

Well, perhaps he is a little bit too radical, so lets have a look what Matt Taibbi thinks in is new article entitled :

Hillary Clinton: The New Nixon?

What people forget about Clinton is that she is basically a Republican at heart. She campaigned for Barry Goldwater once upon a time and even canvassed poor neighborhoods in Chicago looking for “vote fraud” by Democrats. She was president of the Collecce Republicans at Wellesley. In 1968, at the height of America’s most intense cultural debate in a century, she only abandoned the Republican Party because it backed Dick Nixon instead of her favorite, Nelson Rockefeller.

Furthermore in a new study by the Judicial Watch into the ten most corrupt politicians for 2007 Obama, Clinton and Huckabee came up in the top ten with an assortment of political corruption gems like:

Clinton, Hillary

  • Blocking the release her official White House records.
  • Filing false financial disclosure forms with the U.S. Senate (again).
  • Top campaign contributor, Norman Hsu, was exposed as a felon and a fugitive from justice in 2007.

for the record, Judicial Watch is a creepy inaccurate conservative organization. Their representations of women’s health issues, for example, are totally bogus. I’m not advocating for Clinton, but I do think it’s important to recognize where your news sources come from. I wouldn’t trust Judicial Watch to inform me of the weather.
