Ron Paul: "Peace, Commerce and Friendship, much better than going to war"

October 12, 2007

So it has come to express my view on Ron Paul: as a libertarian he has surprisingly refreshing and honest views about foreign policy such as:

  • “There’s nobody in this world that could possibly attack us today,” he said in the interview. “I mean, we could defend this country with a few good submarines. If anybody dared touch us we could wipe any country off of the face of the earth within hours. And here we are, so intimidated and so insecure and we’re acting like such bullies that we have to attack third-world nations that have no military and have no weapon.
  • “The thought that the Iranians could pose an imminent attack on the United States is preposterous. There’s no way. This is just war propaganda, continued war propaganda, preparing this nation to go to war and spread this war not only in Iraq, but into Iran, unconstitutionally. It is a road to disaster for us as a nation.”

On the other hand as an entrenched social reactionary he

So we come full circle, the only candidate with any sense of whither the American foreign policy should head is a conservative, gun toting , abortion hating gynaecologist Texan, with this voting record. But I still like that arsehole.

p, darlin’, it is not ok to support bastards just because SOME of their political views are appealing to you. the caveats are pretty fuckin’ huge. come on, don’t make me play the xenophobia trump card (bloody foreigners, with opinions and shit about this country) that I know you loathe so (I am kidding, you know). don’t go toward the conservative light that you were groomed for!!
