The End of the Oil Era

September 9, 2007

On a recent trip to Nevada I stumbled upon a festival in a desert which shall remain nameless. A very interesting art installation named The Crude Awakening dramatized our dependence on oil and the almost worshipful relation to it by people of all cultures. In a typical manner to the festival the oil rig was blown up on the last day amid some spectacular fireworks. One wonders whether the actual end of the oil era will be marked by such spectacular fireworks and reverie.
